Christian Science and the Christian Science Monitor

Kelowna's Christian Science reading room(CBC)

There are 1200 Christian Science reading rooms around the world.

The first was established in Boston by founder Mary Baker Eddy in 1888.
In Kelowna the reading room sits on prime real estate on Bernard Avenue.

Many people know about the organization's Pulitizer Prize-winning newspaper, the Christian Science Monitor.

But the story of Mary Baker Eddy and her writings is lesser known.

This week our faith columnist Madonna Hamel spent a day reading, visiting and attending a service at the reading room in Kelowna.
