New rush hour closures on Parc Avenue

 

Parc_construction.JPGIf you use Parc to get into town you will come across a detour today. That's because a portion of Parc avenue souhtbound (between Beaubien and Laurier) is closed to most traffic during morning rush hour, 6:30am-9:30am, between now and December 3rd.  There will only be one lane open during that time and it is reserved for taxis and city buses. The City of Montreal recommends using Saint Urbain or Saint Denis to head south.  If you want more information you can call the city roadworks office on Parc Avenue, 514-386-8611 ot visit the City of Montreal webpage dedicated to Parc avenue works.

Car-free road closures

Road closures take effect in the downtown core of Montreal at 9 am.  At that point if you've got your car parked within that area you won't be able to get it out until after 3:30pm.  For a few hours those streets will become pedestrian walkways.

This Wednesday September 22nd a portion of Montreal's downtown core will be closed to car traffic as part of the 8th annual car-free day.  The road closures are for one day only but this year the activities around car-free day last all week long.

Smog alert = $1 fare in Laval

Today's smog alert means that it will only cost you a dollar to ride the buses in Laval.  The Societe de Transport de Laval offers this special fare whenever Environment Canada issues a smog warning.  If you'd like to check it visit the STL website.

If you don't live in Laval and you'd like to look into public transit options during this week's heat then you might want to check fares and schedules:

CITCRC- Buses in Chambly, Richelieu and Transport

STM- Montreal buses and metros

AMT-Commuter train lines

RTL-Longueuil transit

Champlain bridge work

This weekend, July 2nd to 4th, there is going to be some major paving work happening on and around the Champlain bridge.  Whether you are headed to Nun's Island, the south shore or Montreal you may come across some extra slowdowns. Follow the link for more details.
