Cricket has a 225-year history in Montreal -- it was first played here in 1785. But it is not just a heritage sport, a genteel holdover from colonial times. With the rise of South Asia, South Africa, and Australia, cricket has become a big money, splashy, high-profile game. While the world of cricket comes together for the Cricket World Cup, here in Montreal the the cricket community has broken apart. Some young Montrealers with a big passion for serious, modern cricket feel the old Quebec Cricket Federation has been sitting on its laurels.
