Businesses begone

A new condo proposal on Queen Mary east of Snowdon metro is threatening to demolish an existing building. And that means evicting a series of businesses: a pair of independent, ethnic restaurants, a family florist and a Subway sandwich chain among them. The new proposed condo project will re-house the Subway shop and welcome a Pharmaprix. But the independently-owned restaurants Ermitage, an Eastern European restaurant, and Rodos, a Greek restaurant: no. Christina Yotis is the owner of Rodos Restaurant, on Queen Mary. Her restaurant has been at that location for 30 years.
