Crisis of confidence
The Premier was meant to be in France today for a series of meetings with French officials, Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Fillon. He'll squeeze the important ones into two days at the end of the week, as he leads the fight-back against a Parti Quebecois nonconfidence motion set for Wednesday. The motion to be debated: That the national assembly withdraw its confidence in the Liberal government and its premier who obstinately refuse to launch an independent public inquiry into the construction industry, the awarding of public contracts, permits and subsidies, and the financing of political parties. We spoke to Party Quebecois Public Security Critic Stephane Bergeron. We also spoke with Geoff Kelley, Liberal MNA for the constituency of Jacques Cartier on the West Island.
