Soccer league for Muslim youth in Montreal

MYSL.jpgFIFA soccer is more than just the organization that runs the World Cup.

The governing body also influences the rules for soccer clubs across the globe, including leagues in Montreal.

FIFA does not approve of any headgear in its list of acceptable equipment.

And since many of Montreal's competitive leagues follow FIFA rules, any girl who wears the hijab will likely find herself on the sidelines.

There is one notable exception: the Muslim Youth Soccer League. The league has about 200 players, Muslim and non-Muslim, from across Montreal. Daybreak spoke to the director, and a player.
