Dave Thomas - Full Version
He started out as an ad-man but when a young Dave Thomas turned his sights to making people laugh, it launched a career in which he has never looked back. He was a co-founding cast member of the legendary SCTV television series. His creation of Bob & Doug McKenzie with fellow comedian, Rick Moranis, made him and the characters household names in Canada. Dave Thomas has gone to memorable roles on shows like Arrested Development, plus plenty of voice work on animated shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy. This coming Fall, he'll be a script and producer on the crime drama, Bones. Yet another turn in a very productive and eclectic career, a career which has roots in Alberta. In the early 80's, SCTV was produced by ITV in Edmonton, before it took off and transferred to the CBC for the rest of its run. Dave Thomas returned to Edmonton to receive a Special Lifetime Achievement Award from the Alberta Media Production Industries Association, also known as The Rosies. Here's the full conversation Russell held with Daybreak's Russell Bowers.
