A new edition of Hemingway's Farewell to Arms will be published that includes 47 different alternative endings the author wrote for his novel. In a 1958 interview, Hemingway said that he had trouble "getting the words right." He's not the only writer to labour over the endings of their stories, though. Aidan Flax-Clark takes a look at several other alternative endings for works by literary giants from Shakespeare to Dickens.
