Why the AP will no longer use "illegal immigrant"


The Associated Press, which provides news copy for over 6000 newspapers and radio and TV broadcasts, has told reporters that they will no longer use the word "illegal" to describe a person. That's a complete reversal from AP's claim just months ago that using terms like "undocumented immigrants" or "unauthorized immigrants" would "obscure the essential fact that such people are here in violation of the law".  One of the organizations that pushed for the change is The National Hispanic Media Coalition. We spoke to Executive Vice President Inez Gonzalez.
