Mailbag: On "deep-sixing" Facebook

Our latest topic in our Deep Sixed series was Facebook.  Our guest believes Facebook's future is less than certain, and explained why he thinks that's the case.  Not everyone will agree with the arguments being put forward in this series, which is why we hope you'll listen - and then hit our Deep Sixed page to cast your vote.  We don't know what San Diego listener Michael Russell's vote is, but based on his letter, we've a pretty good idea.  Here's what he wrote:

Unlike some of your other reporting, you didn't have any balance in the Deep 6 story about Facebook. Talking down Facebook and Zuckerberg was an opinion piece and should have been labeled as such.

Some major points you forgot to mention:

1) Facebook is  8 years old and valued at nearly $100,000,000,000
2) They raised over $16,000,000,000 with their IPO and still hold that liquid capital
3) Zukerberg is a certifiable genius
4) Zuckerberg holds a controlling interest
5) Every corporation today must continually reinvent itself
6) Facebook is continually reinventing itself
7) Facebook isn't just a community of 1,000,000,000 people it is a 100-million exclusive communities of free association.
8) Facebook is fun, and addictive, and people spend 4 hrs./day using the social network
9) Facebook is politics
10) You have a facebook account
