All that talk of Earth running out of resources in the future may about to become mostly irrelevant.
Because a bunch of billionaires are about to start mining asteroids.
Planetary Resources, Inc. was officially launched on Tuesday. The backers of the company include X-Prize Foundation founder Peter Diamandis, filmmaker/adventurer James Cameron and Google founder Larry Page.
The company will research and development technology to capture, study and extract minerals believed to exist in abundance on asteroids not too far from earth.
We reached Peter Diamandis by telephone a couple hours before his press conference on Tuesday.
