The Monkees are on everyone's mind after lead singer Davy Jones passed away earlier this week. They're remembered for their number one sitcom and hits like "I'm a Believer" and "Pleasant Valley Sunday."

Not so well known was their feature length movie, Head. Written by a young Jack Nicholson, Head was a psychedelic free-for-all and, sadly, a box office failure. At the time, it marked the end of the Monkees as superstars.



But now some call it a cult movie masterpiece and possibly the Monkees' finest work.

Journalist Dorian Lynskey wrote a history of Head for The Guardian. He joins Brent from London.
