The Monkees' Head Trip

monkees.jpgThe Monkees are on everyone's mind after lead singer Davy Jones passed away earlier this week. They're remembered for their number one sitcom and hits like "I'm a Believer" and "Pleasant Valley Sunday."

Not so well known was their feature length movie, Head. Written by a young Jack Nicholson, Head was a psychedelic free-for-all and, sadly, a box office failure. At the time, it marked the end of the Monkees as superstars.



But now some call it a cult movie masterpiece and possibly the Monkees' finest work.

Journalist Dorian Lynskey wrote a history of Head for The Guardian. He joins Brent from London.
