Julian Assange's British lawyer was on CBC News Network this morning. He defended his client and the work that Wikileaks does. He says the leaked diplomatic cables are in the public good.
"I think he (Julian) knew what he had was material of enormous public interest. Journalism in the current era has become very celebrity focused...whether it's the story of North Korea, whether it's the story of breaches of human rights, about corruption in countries where we pour aid in or whether it's about the U.S. spying on the U.N. in breach of international treaties. These are enormous stories."
- Mark Stephens, lawyer for Julian Assange.
