You've heard the greatest, most-loved songs in Canadian music history, but never quite like this. Welcome to the biggest, loudest, most entertaining, star-studded musical competition show on television.
Each week, the best undiscovered bands in the country will battle it out to see who is the greatest new musical act in Canada. But, in order to win the ultimate prize, they'll have to cover the most iconic chart-topping songs from some of the greatest Canadian artists of all time and make them into their own. The winner will receive a $100,000 cash prize, a recording contract for their first original single to be released by Universal Music Canada, as well as featured airplay of their single on CBC Radio 2.
COVER ME CANADA is uncovering the best vocal acts - individuals, bands, choirs, whatever - in the country. Here's your chance to prove you've got the talent to take on familiar favourites with your unique interpretations.
Host Nicole Appleton is joined by an accomplished panel of judges: NKOTB frontman Jordan Knight, R&B songstress Deborah Cox and hit-making producer Ron Fair. Artists, producers and the biggest names in Canadian music will be part of the excitement, with competitors getting to perform some of the greatest songs in the Canadian songbook.
Cover Me Canada will partner with MusicCounts to help bring awareness to the importance of music education.
MusiCounts, Canada's music education charity associated with CARAS, is helping to keep music alive in schools across Canada. MusiCounts' mission is to ensure that children in Canada, regardless of socio-economic circumstances and cultural background, have access to a comprehensive music program through their school.
MusiCounts includes Band Aid musical instrument grants, the MusiCounts Teacher of the Year Award, Scholarships, and other music education initiatives.
