Expedia Canada faces consumer protection class action

Last Updated: Friday, July 3, 2009 | 2:06 PM ET

A Toronto law firm says it has filed a class action suit against Expedia Canada Corp. and Expedia.ca.

The firm says the suit accuses the online travel company of "widespread violations" of consumer protection laws.

The suit filed in Ontario Superior Court by Juroviesky and Ricci also alleges breach of contract and claims Expedia.ca sold lodging and charged a non-itemized "taxes and services fee" in violation of consumer laws.

The allegations haven't been proven and Expedia's representative was not immediately available for comment.
