Computer glitch downs TD Canada Trust systems for hours

TD Canada Trust's computer systems stopped functioning for several hours Wednesday, limiting customers' access to their banking and investing accounts.
TD representative Simon Townsend told the Canadian Press that the problem, which lasted from about 11 a.m. ET to about 4 p.m., was related to an "internal software issue." The bank is still investigating the cause.
The problem affected TD's branch systems, WebBroker investor site, EasyLine telephone banking, EasyWeb online banking and automated banking machines.
"Some parts of the country were up and running a few hours ago, other parts sequenced after that," Townsend said in an email late Wednesday afternoon.
TD Canada Trust services 11 million customers across the country.
