About 1,200 Generation 2 Worldwide and "ChildESIGNS" Drop-Side Cribs have been recalled in Canada.
The recall comes after reports of three entrapments that led to three infant suffocations and 20 other and reports associated with drop side detachments. That includes two reports of entrapments and five reports of children falling out of the cribs. There have also been eight reports of mattress support detachments.
In Canada, neither Health Canada nor the distributor, Elfe Juvenile Products, has received reports of injuries or incidents related to the use of these products.
Previously, Health Canada had not received information indicating that these cribs had been sold in Canada. However, Elfe Juvenile Products has recently informed Health Canada that they had distributed the recalled cribs in Canada between 2001 and 2004.
