Ardène recalls frog-themed earrings because of lead
- March 29, 2010 5:09 PM
- By Charlene Sadler
The jewelry chain Ardène is recalling sets of frog-themed earrings because they contain excessive amounts of lead.
Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that these pieces of jewellery contain lead in excess of the allowable limit. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Neither Health Canada nor Ardène has received reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of these products.
Approximately 2,570 sets of the recalled earrings were sold at Ardène stores across Canada from April 2009 to February 2010.
