Zippo multi-purpose lighters recalled over unsafe burning
- January 4, 2010 12:20 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
More than 25,000 Zippo refillable butane lighters have been recalled because of unsafe burning characteristics.
In some instances, the flame is too high and can grow larger suddenly or the lighter continues to burn even after the trigger mechanism has been released.
In addition, the lighter can leak fuel.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these lighters.
The recalled products were sold from January 2005 to November 2009 across Canada.
The recalled lighters are silver or black, and measure 20.5cm in length. Some of the lighters have an NHL logo on them. This recall does not include the Mini MPL, which is shorter in length than the recalled lighters.
