- By Peter Hadzipetros
People with peanut allergies are being warned not to consume certain Nutkao brand nut spreads imported from Italy because they may contain peanuts not declared on the label.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Brampton, Ont.-based GiGi Importing Ltd. issued the warning Friday, saying the products have been distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.
No illnesses have been reported, however there were allergic reactions reported in Europe.
The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall and can be reached at 1-800-442-2342.
