Classic Smokehouse pulls wild sockeye lox over listeria fears
- October 23, 2009 5:00 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
A Vancouver-based company is voluntarily recalling one of its sockeye salmon products because it may be contaminated with listeria.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says Classic Smokehouse Inc. is pulling its classic Canadian wild sockeye lox trim that was packaged between May 2 and July 28.
The food inspection agency says the 454-gram vacuum packages were distributed in B.C.
No illnesses have been reported but the CFIA warns food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but it can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
