Romaine lettuce recall expanded
- August 6, 2009 2:41 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
Tanimura & Antle, Inc. of Salinas, California is expanding the scope of its romaine lettuce recall.
Although the volume of cases from the single recalled lot has not changed, the company has extended the geographic reach to include all 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico and Canada.
The recall was issued after a random test found salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been linked to the finding.
All customers who received the romaine are advised to discard any existing product, which now is well past its shelf life. Romaine included in the recall was harvested June 25 to July 2. Shelf life of the product typically is 14 to 16 days.
