Health Canada is recalling portable Husky generators because their fuel gauges may leak gasoline, posing a potential fire hazard.
The recall involves two models of portable "Husky" brand generators: HUCA7000 and HUCA5700. Generators with model number HUCA7000 are powered by Honda whereas generators with model number HUCA5700 are powered by Yamaha.
Generators with a silver dot on the face of the fuel gauge and boxes with a green dot, which contain reworked units, are not included in this recall.
Neither Homelite Consumers Products Inc. nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable generators and contact Homelite Consumer Products Inc.
Approximately 53 generators were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores across Canada between February and May 2009.
For more information, consumers may contact Homelite Consumer Products Inc. at 1-800-242-4672.
