Health Canada is recalling Blob Frog Squeeze Em! brand yo-yo type balls due to a hidden risk of strangulation to children.
This recall involves the Blob Frog Squeeze Em! yo-yo type ball made by Toysmith.
The product is a frog with legs that stretch over 50 centimetres. The body of the frog is round with a yellow, stretchy, soft plastic skin that covers a red squishy ball. When the frog is squeezed, the red ball sticks out of the holes in the frog's yellow skin.
The toy is labelled for children ages five and up. The recalled toy can be identified by UPC 085761083387.
The yo-yo type balls and similar products are banned in Canada because they present a hidden risk of strangulation to children.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
About 4,300 of the recalled products were sold across Canada from 2007 to 2009.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy away from children.
Consumers may either cut the legs off the frog and throw the legs away or dispose of the whole toy in regular household garbage.
