CFIA warns Sprouts Alive brand onion sprouts may be contaminated with salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume Sprouts Alive brand onion sprouts because they may be contaminated with salmonella.

The warning covers Sprouts Alive baby onion sprouts, 70 grams (2.5 oz.), with a UPC code of 0 69022 00032 0 and a best-before date of Sept. 4, 2009.

The best-before date is shown in one of the following formats: "Best Before 04 SE 09," "EX SEP 04 09," or "EX 09 04 09."

The sprouts have been distributed in Alberta and may also have been distributed in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with consumption of this product.
