CFIA recalls jumbo green onions
- August 14, 2009 1:06 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is recalling jumbo green onions due to possible salmonella contamination.
The onions, a product of the U.S., were sold unwrapped with a rubber band. There is no lot code sticker, UPC or product name on the individual bunch of onions.
Although it is likely the onions are now beyond their usable life, the recall was issued in case consumers might still have the product in their refrigerators.
The onions were imported into Canada by Vitale Produce Ltd. of Windsor, Ont., and sold on or after July 30, 2009, from various retail stores in the Windsor area.
For a complete list of stores where the onions were sold, please consult the recall notice.
