Spalding is recalling about 1,700 in-ground basketball hoops because the bolts at the base can fail, posing a risk of serious injury to consumers.
Russell Brands LLC with model numbers 88565G, 88565GT, 88567G, 88567GT, 886724FS, 88830, 88830G, 88830T, 88830GT, 88880G, 88880GT are covered under the recall.
The affected units were sold between January and July 2009, and retailed for between $600 and $1,700.
Consumers are advised to stop using the hoops and contact Russell Brands for information on free replacement bolts, or reinstallation if the units have been installed in concrete.
