Health Canada is recalling approximately 44,000 Starbucks Barista Blade coffee grinders because the devices can fail to turn off or can turn on unexpectedly, presenting a risk of injury.
The recalled products come in a variety of colours, and have the following SKUs:171884, 220623, 220624, 242275, 344476 and 454482. The were sold between March, 2002 and March, 2009 at Starbucks locations across the country.
Starbucks Coffee Company has received 20 reports of the grinder failing to turn off or turning on unexpectedly in Canada, with 1 report of a hand laceration injury to a consumer who was cleaning the unit.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled coffee grinders and contact Starbucks for information on how to obtain a free replacement grinder.
Consumers are asked not to return the grinder to a store location.
