Dietary supplements recalled for unlisted ingredients
- July 29, 2009 3:52 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
Nutracoastal Trading LLC of Freeport, N.Y., is recalling bottles of two dietary supplements, STEAM and S-DROL, because they may contain ingredients not listed on the label.
STEAM may contain an ingredient found in erectile dysfunction drugs, while S-DROL may contain a steroid.
Both ingredients could interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, potentially lowering blood pressure to dangerous levels. Both products also could cause side-effects that include headaches and flushing. The recall applies to five-capsule bottles of STEAM, lot number 80214, and 60-tablet bottles of S-DROL, lot number 810481, that were sold in retail stores across the United States.
