Children's clog shoes recalled due to choking hazard
Tuesday, July 7, 2009 | 04:01 PM ET
Health Canada is recalling children's clog shoes manufactured by Pagoda International Footwear Limited because the decorative wheels on the shoes designed to look like a car can separate, presenting a choking hazard.
The recall covers three shoe designs. A tag sewn into each shoe bears the names "Buster Brown & Co." and "St.Louis Missouri 63105 U.S.A.".
The first shoe is a red plastic clog designed to resemble a car. Each side of the shoe has two red and black decorative wheels with the word "Lightyear" printed on it. Each side of the shoe has the number "95" written on it. The shoes were sold in children's sizes 5-13 and youth sizes 1-3.
The second shoe model is brown plastic and is lined with black fleece. Each side of the shoe has two red and orange decorative wheels, and the words "Tow Mater, Towing & Salvage, Radiator Springs". The shoes were sold in children's sizes 7-11.
The final shoe is a pink plastic clog designed to resemble a car. Each side of the shoe has pink and red decorative wheels. The shoes were sold in children's sizes 7-11 and youth sizes 1-2.
Pagoda International Footwear Limited has received two reports of the decorative wheel detaching from the shoe, with no reported injuries.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled shoes away from children and return the shoes to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Approximately 120,000 pairs of the shoes were sold in Canada from August 2007 until June 2009 at WalMart, Groupe Yellow and Zellers stores across the country.
