Sweet potato snacks recalled due to improper labeling

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning people with a sensitivity to sulphites to not eat sweet potato snacks that may be improperly labeled.

Sweet Potato Slice snacks sold in 454-gram packages may contain sulphites that are not declared on the label, the CFIA says. Those who are sensitive to sulphites run the risk of a life-threatening reaction if they consume the product.

The affected products bear the UPC 6 941882 504139, and are manufactured by Zhongshan Kaxing Industry & Trade Co., Ltd. in China.

The importer has voluntarily recalled all affected lots.

The product was distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, although it may have been sold elsewhere as well, says the CFIA.
