Pacifiers bearing hockey team logos recalled

Health Canada announced the recall of around 6,500 Home Game/Little Sport pacifiers bearing logos of some hockey teams because they may pose a choking hazard.

Testing by Health Canada has revealed the pacifier button, ring handle and shield with nipple can detach, posing a choking hazard to children.

The recall affects pacifiers that bear the logos of six Canadian NHL teams and of the Canadian national team. Only pacifiers purchased after February 27, 2008 are affected.

The pacifiers come in packages containing two units, and were sold from February 2008 to June 2009 at Zellers, Walmart, the Bay, team stores, stores in the arenas where Canadian NHL teams play and other retailers across Canada.

If they are still in their original packaging, the affected pacifiers can be identified by the UPC and item numbers listed below:

Health Canada has received one report of the pacifier button, ring handle and shield with nipple detaching. There have been no reports of injuries or illnesses associated with the use of the product.

Consumers are advised to take the pacifier away from children. They can contact the Home Game Inc. at 1-800-563-6733, extension 300, for more information. Calls should be addressed to the attention of Corby Saltzman.
