Health Canada announces recall of Selecta rattles

Health Canada has announced the recall of more than 500 Selecta-brand rattles that may pose a choking hazard.

The recall affects two models: the Rondello and the Trinello.

Tests conducted by Health Canada revealed that loose pieces of the rattle can come apart, and hurt or choke a child.

There has been one report each of both the Rondello and Trinello rattles coming apart. No injuries have been reported.

The circular Rondello rattle has large wooden multicoloured beads and rings. The rattle can be identified by item number 1311 and UPC 4003332013119.

The Trinello rattle, which is shaped like a triangle, can be used as a teething ring.

It has three large natural coloured grooved beads, nine multicoloured smaller round beads and one larger red circular bead that can move over the smaller round beads. A bell can be found inside one of the larger beads.

The rattle can be identified by item number 1321.

The rattles were sold across Canada between January 2006 to December 2008.

Consumers are advised to immediately take the rattles away from children and return them to the importer, Valley Toys.
