Health Canada recalls straightening irons
- June 2, 2009 4:26 PM
- By Tara Kimura
Health Canada has recalled a number of electrical hand-held hair-straightening devices.
The recalled straightening irons are long and narrow, black in colour with red accents. They bear a counterfeit Intertek-ETL trademark, and have not been evaluated for safety by a recognized certification agency. In addition, the product has an improper power cord that is marked as SPT-1 and not the required SPT-2 type.
Distributed by A.V.7 Inc. of Markham, Ont., approximately 200 of the units were sold in Canada between 2008 and March 2009.
Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled products and contact A.V. 7 Inc. at 1-416-575-5880 for more information.
