Health Canada recalls Trek bicycles with faulty suspension forks

Health Canada has recalled hundreds of Trek-brand bicycles that are believed to have faulty suspension forks.

The forks can lose alignment with handlebars easily, causing bicycles to turn unexpectedly, which poses a fall hazard, says Health Canada.

Model year 2009 Trek 7300, Trek 7300WSD, and Trek 7500 bicycles are affected. The model name is printed on the bicycle frame and "Bontrager SPA" is printed on the suspension forks.

The recall affects about 760 bicycles sold between August 2008 and April 2009 at Trek dealers across Canada.

While there have been no reports of any injuries associated with the bicycles, Trek Bicycle Corp. has received four reports of misaligned forks.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled bicycles and contact an authorized dealer for information on a free repair.
