Health Canada announces recall of Dahon folding bicycles

Health Canada has announced the recall of a number of folding bicycles manufactured by Dahon in 2008.

Dahon voluntarily recalled about 1,100 bicycles because the hinge on the handlepost may crack, which puts riders at risk of falling.

The following models are included in the recall:

  • 2008 Ciao P8.
  • 2008 Glide P8.
  • 2008 Jetstream P8.
  • 2008 Mu P8.
  • 2008 Mu P24.
  • 2008 Mu SL.
  • 2008 Mu XL Sport.
  • 2008 Vitesse D7 HG.
  • 2008 Speed D7.
  • 2008 Speed P8.
  • 2008 Speed TR.
  • 2008 Speed Pro TT.

Bicycles that have the letter "R" written at the base of the handlepost or have a sticker saying "Radius Handlepost" are not affected, says Health Canada.

The bicycles were sold in 2008 and 2009 at various outlets across Canada. Neither Dahon nor Health Canada have received reports of any injuries incurred through use of the bicycles.

Consumers are advised to stop using the bicycles and take them to an authorized Dahon dealer for a free inspection and repair. Consumers can also contact Dahon California Inc. at 1-800-442-3511.
