CFIA announces pistachio recalls

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning consumers not to eat a number of products containing pistachios that may be contaminated with salmonella.
All of the products in question contain pistachios manufactured by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc.
All products affected by the alert were distributed in Manitoba and Ontario. The following products are affected:
- Bestway brand roasted salted pistachios, sold in 400 g packs. UPC code: 10000308. Sold between Feb. 13 and April 6, 2009.
- King Henry's brand roasted and salted pistachios, sold in 2.75 oz (78 g) packs. UPC codes: 6 10546 45404 7. Sold between Oct. 10 and Dec. 23, 2008.
- King Henry's brand jalapeno pistachios, sold in 2.5 oz (71 g) packs. UPC codes: 6 10546 85668 1. Sold between Oct. 10 and Dec. 23, 2008.
- King Henry's brand roasted and salted pistachios sold in 2.75 oz (78 g) packs. UPC code: 6 10546 85404 5 Sold between Oct. 10 and Dec. 23, 2008.
- Roasted salted pistachios, unbranded, sold from bulk bins at Bestway Food Centre, 2626 Islington Ave., Etobicoke, Ont. Variable weight, no UPC code. Sold between February 13 and April 6, 2009.
- Roasted salted pistachios, unbranded, sold from bulk bin at Bestway Food Market, 20 Red Maple Dr., Brampton, Ont. Variable weight, no UPC code. Sold between March 22 and April 10, 2009.
The manufacturers are voluntarily recalling the products.
CFIA says there have been no illnesses reported in Canada associated with consumption of any of the products.
The CFIA says an investigation into the recall of pistachios possibly contaminated by salmonella is ongoing. The CFIA will issue more updates as more affected products are identified.
