Health Canada is recalling AC adaptors for ThinkVision Soundbars because the plastic shell of the adapter can crack over time, posing a risk of electric shock.
The recall involves adapters sold as part of the ThinkVision Soundbar option by Lenovo. The recalled adaptors can be identified by the FRU part number 89P8571 and the date code 200810, which can both be found on the back of the adaptor.
The Lenovo ThinkVision USB Soundbar, which has a single USB connector, is not affected by the recall, as it does not have an AC adaptor.
About 75 of the recalled adapters were sold in Canada between October 2008 and January 2009.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled AC adaptors and contact Lenovo to receive a free replacement.
When consumers contact technical support at Lenovo, they must mention the document number "SF09-D0028."
