Tupperware children's maraca rattle recalled due to choking danger

A children's maraca manufactured by Tupperware is being recalled due to concerns about a possible choking hazard.

The blue and red rattle on a long yellow plastic handle can break and release small parts that pose a choking risk to young children, Health Canada said.

The handle also poses a choking hazard because it could become lodged in the throat, Health Canada said.
The Shape-O Maraca is globe shaped with cutouts in the shape of stars, squares and other figures. Geometric shapes are located inside the rattle.

Health Canada has not received any reports of injuries related to the toy. But consumers are being asked to take the product and contact Tupperware to return the item in exchange for a return or gift certificate.

Approximately 9,500 of the rattles were sold in Canada through Tupperware's Holiday 2007 and Spring 2008 catalogues.
