Play yard rails can collapse

Simplicity Inc. has recalled about 25,000 Travel Tender play yards because one or more rails can collapse unexpectedly, posing a fall or entrapment hazard for young children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

At lest five rails have collapsed, but no injuries resulted.

The recalled play yards are portable and were sold with a bassinet, changing table and mobile features. They have a Simplicity logo and model numbers 5500DRM, 5500WDS, 5500FEL, 5501FEL, 5502MON, 5520PRO, 5550HAN, 5700MAN and 5750MIR on a sticker on one of the legs.

Burlington Coat Factory stores and online retailers Babiesrus.com, Target.com and Kohls.com sold the items from March 2005 through January 2009 for about $100 US.

Consumers should stop using the items and return them to retailers for a refund or replacement.
