Nautilus Inc. is recalling about 848 Bowflex Ultimate 2 home gyms because the seat rail can fall unexpectedly, Health Canada says.
Nautilus has received 18 reports worldwide of injuries caused by unlatched seat rails that have fallen, resulting in head and shoulder lacerations, some requiring stitches or staples.
The horizontal seat rail is designed to be latched in a vertical position for storage, but can fall if it is not manually latched.
The gyms have pulleys, resistance rods, and other equipment, with Bowflex Ultimate 2 written on the vertical part of the frame.
Consumers can continue to use the devices, but should not place the seat rail in the vertical (storage) position until a repair is made.
Registered owners will receive a free upgrade repair kit via mail. Owners who have not received a repair kit should contact Nautilus at 1-800-259-9019 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday.
