Locking throttle prompts Bush Hog to recall off-road utility vehicle

An off-road utility vehicle is being voluntarily recalled because in freezing temperatures its throttle can lock and cause the driver to lose control, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says.

Bush Hog LLC is recalled its off-road utility vehicle with the model number TH4400 named the Trail Hand on its side, after receiving one report of a frozen throttle.

When the throttle cables locks it can cause the engine not to return to idle after driver takes his foot off the pedal, resulting in the loss of control of the vehicle.

No injuries have been reported.

About 850 units have been sold. The vehicle has a cargo bed and a tailgate. Its hood is red, green or mossy oak. Bush Hog is printed on its side.

The vehicle was sold from April to December 2008 for between $8,000-$10,000 US.

Consumers are being advised to stop using the vehicle and to contact a Bush Hog dealer for a free inspection and repair.
