CFIA warns consumers about ham, bacon

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says consumers should avoid specific brand names of smoked ham and smoked bacon because of the possibility the products have been infected with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

The agency said people should not consumer:

· Pillers "tastes Better than Bacon" maple-flavoured smoked ham with best-before dates ranging from May 9 to May 26.
· Lean'n'Tasty smoked ham maple-flavoured bacon-style slices with a best-before date of May 26.

There are no reports of illness from the consumption of these products, which were distributed across Canada.
