CARS clogs can lose wheel

Distributor Pagoda International Footwear Ltd. has recalled about 18,000 CARS Fleece clog infant and toddler shoes because the decorative wheels can come loose, posing a choking hazard to young children, Health Canada says.

The recalled shoes were distributed to Wal-Mart stores in Canada, and about 73,000 were distributed to Wal-Mart stores in the United States.

Pagoda has received one report where a child began choking on a wheel. The child was not hurt.
The Buster Brown & Co. CARS shoes are red plastic clogs that resemble a car. They’re lined with black fleece, and the infant version of the shoe has an ankle strap. Each side of the shoe has two red and black decorative wheels and the number 95. A tag inside the shoe has the names Buster Brown & Co. and Disney.

The shoes were sold in infant sizes 4-6 and toddler sizes 7-11.

Consumers should take the shoes away from young children and return them to the nearest Wal-Mart for a full refund.

Consumers can also call Buster Brown & Co. toll-free at 1-888-869-1044 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The shoes were sold from September 2008 to February 2009 in Canada, and from September 2008 to March 2009 in the United States.
