U.S. consumer watchdog warns about Williams-Sonoma waffle iron
- March 5, 2009 3:16 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the wiring inside the "All-Clad 4-Square Belgian Waffle Makers" can be damaged and come in contact with the metal part of the iron, posing a shock or fire hazard.
The utensil was sold by Williams-Sonoma between March 2008 and January 2009 and retailed for $200 US.
The safety commission has had 20 reports of the iron emitting sparks. No injuries, however, have been reported.
All-Clad is voluntarily participating in the recall and is urging consumers to unplug the unit and contact All-Clad to receive a replacement device.
All-Clad can be reached at (888) 345-0474 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.
