About 17 handlebar stems used on Salsa bicycles have been recalled because they can break, endangering the rider, Health Canada says.
All CroMoto S.U.L. bicycle stems sold individually and installed on certain Salsa bicycles – Ala Carte, El Mariachi, Casseroll Triple, Casseroll Single and La Cruz – have been recalled.
The stems that were sold as a part of the bicycle were painted to match the bike colour, and have Salsa painted on the extension. Independently sold products are black, and also have Salsa on them.
Salsa Bicycles has received three reports of breaks, with one incident resulting in a broken wrist.
Consumers should immediately stop riding the bikes and contact a Salsa Bicycles dealer for a free inspection and replacement stem.
Salsa can be reached at 1-877-774-6208.
