Outerwares Inc. has recalled about 500 funnel pre-filters because they can create a flash when removed from a fuel tank, posing a fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says.
The company has received three reports of flashing, but no injuries have been reported.
The filters are used to fuel off-road and racing vehicles. The recall involves pre-filters with model numbers 20-2465-03, 20-2466-03, 20-2467-03 and 20-2474-03.
The red fabric mesh filters were available in two sizes, small and large, and in two different shapes to accommodate various sizes of fuelling funnels. The name of the manufacturer, Outerwears, is the only marking on the product.
Consumers should stop using the pre-filters and contact Outerwears at (800) 967-3450 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, from Monday to Friday, for a full refund.
