Medport LLC has recalled more than 4,000 Fit & Fresh mixers sold in Canada because the blades can be turned on unexpectedly while moving the cup on or off the base, posing a laceration hazard.
Medport has received two reports of finger lacerations that required treatment, but Health Canada has not received any incident reports.
The recalled Fit & Fresh Smooth Blend Mixers have a four-digit date code of 2707, 4407, 5207, 0308, and 0508 on the bottom of the base.
The mixers are item number 770FF and model number SB-19. They are white with four components: a base unit, a blade assembly, a blending cup, and a lid. Fit & Fresh is printed on the front of the base and on the cup.
Consumers should check the date code and if the mixer is recalled, stop using it and return the device to the retailer or contact Medport for a refund.
Medport can be reached at 1-800-858-8840 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
The mixers were sold from October 2007 to September 2008.
