Health Canada is recalling Tippmann A-5 paintball markers because the end cap assembly on the rear of the markers can break and eject during use, causing possible injury to the operator.
The markers are made by Indiana-based Tippmann Sports LLC and are marked with serial numbers 0409301 to 0422200. The serial number can be found on the packaging accompanying each marker and is also engraved on the left side of the marker near the front grip.
Serial numbers ending with an "R" have already been repaired and are not included in this recall.
Tippmann Sports has received three reports of the end cap assembly breaking, ejecting and hitting the user. One minor injury has been reported.
Approximately 1,447 of the markers were sold in stores across Canada between May 2008 to February 2009.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled paintball markers and contact Tippmann Sports for a repair kit.
For more information, consumers may contact Tippmann Sports toll-free at 1-866-841-3029 or by email at recall@tippmann.com.
