Bikes recalled over fall hazard
- March 17, 2009 2:03 PM
- By Peter Hadzipetros
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling eight types of Cannondale bicycles because of a hazard that could cause the cyclist to fall.
Spoke protector discs, required to prevent the bicycle chain from interfering or suddenly stopping the wheel, are missing from these bicycles. This poses a fall hazard to the rider.
The recall includes 2009 Six 5, Six 6, Six Carbon 5 and Six Carbon 6 bicycles.
About 1,300 of the bikes were sold at Cannondale dealers across the United States from October 2008 through
February 2009 for between $1,500 US and $2,100 US.
Consumers should stop using the recalled bicycles immediately and contact any authorized Cannondale bicycle dealer for a free repair.
